Overview
Due to maternity leave, there is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic paediatric musculoskeletal physiotherapy team. We are seeking a keen and motivated individual with a passion for managing a wide range of paediatric musculoskeletal presentation. The post holder will be jointly responsible for leading the team, supporting band 6 and band 3 colleagues. They will have a sound understanding of normal child development and common musculoskeletal conditions that affect children and young people.
Responsibilities
* Provide independent assessment and treatment for children with musculoskeletal presentations from GP and tertiary referrals.
* Support rotational team members and work with physiotherapy assistants within the team.
* Prioritise referrals and manage a caseload within a busy, dynamic clinic.
* Lead hydrotherapy sessions and group sessions where appropriate.
* Work closely with colleagues in general paediatrics, orthopaedics, spinal surgery, paediatric rheumatology and chronic pain, with support from clinical specialist physiotherapists in these areas.
* Supervise undergraduate physiotherapy students and participate in teaching within the physiotherapy team and wider multi-disciplinary team.
* Demonstrate strong multi-disciplinary working and excellent communication with children and families with complex needs.
* Work with inpatients as required by MDT and provide a high standard physiotherapy service to paediatric musculoskeletal outpatients within the Evelina London Children’s Hospital and Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.
Work environment and collaboration
* Work with colleagues in outpatient and inpatient settings, including close coordination with MDT members.
* Participate in teaching and supervision opportunities within the team and wider multi-disciplinary team.
