We are seeking a senior professional to support the Academic Registrar on a permanent or interim basis in providing strategic and operational leadership across the Academic Registry. This role is pivotal in delivering high-quality services that support the full student lifecycle and academic governance.
The postholder will lead key areas within Registry, including Quality Assurance and core administrative functions (e.g. assessments and graduation), ensuring continuous improvement, compliance, and an excellent student experience.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
* Contribute to the development and delivery of registry strategy aligned with institutional goals
* Lead projects to enhance systems, processes, and digital capability
* Deputise for the Academic Registrar at senior forums
Quality Assurance & Enhancement
* Oversee quality assurance and enhancement processes across academic provision
* Manage programme validation, review, and external examiner processes
* Support academic staff with quality processes and documentation
Operations & Service Delivery
* Ensure effective management of student records, assessments, and graduation
* Lead the planning and delivery of graduation ceremonies
* Drive efficient, compliant registry operations and services
Policy & Governance
* Lead development and implementation of academic policies and regulations
* Support academic governance through committee servicing and reporting
Leadership & Management
* Provide line management and leadership to registry teams
* Develop staff capability and drive a high-performance culture
Data & Systems
* Oversee student data integrity, reporting, and system optimisation
* Provide insights to support decision-making and planning
External Engagement
* Represent the institution in sector networks and with regulatory bodies
* Support compliance with external requirements
Resources & Partnerships
* Support budget management and identify efficiencies
* Contribute to the oversight of collaborative academic partnerships
Essential Criteria
* Degree-level qualification
* Extensive experience leading a higher education academic quality function
* Strong, up-to-date knowledge of higher education policy, compliance, and regulatory frameworks
* Knowledge of key regulatory bodies (e.g. QAA, OfS) and sector best practice
* Active engagement in professional networks and sector groups
* Awareness of developments in academic governance and student administration
* Understanding of relevant legislation, including data protection (e.g. GDPR) and wider education policy
* Flexibility to meet operational demands
