An opportunity has become available for a full-time (37.5 hours per week) Band 6 nurse to join our small outpatient team as deputy nurse manager of Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) Main OPD. Princess Royal Main Outpatients is a General Outpatients Department, which is a variable, dynamic and diverse working environment, where no two days are the same. PRH Main OPD offers care to patients from a wide-ranging demographic, many with complex health needs.
The department manages clinics covering many different specialities such as Cardiology, Respiratory, Neurology, Digestive Diseases, Diabetic, Endocrine/diabetes, Renal, Haematology and Oncology. The post holder will need to have the ability to understand the differing clinical needs & pathways for patients being cared for within these specialities, and to work these clinics.
You will receive support and encouragement to learn and develop any necessary skills, and you will receive on-going support. We have a Outpatients practice educator and a bespoke induction programme will be developed to support the successful candidate to become competent, and effective in the role.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will support the OPD Nurse manager with leading the team. In conjunction with the nurse manager, you will be responsible for promoting an environment conducive to individual and team development, to ensure the delivery of high standards of patient care in line with clinical governance. You will assist the nurse manager in meeting strategic demands and divisional goals and help to deliver & understand the targets set for each speciality in a constant drive for excellence. You will also have the responsibility for the effective management of the department in the absence of the Nurse manager.
You will be an active clinical member of the team, collaborating with multidisciplinary staff to ensure the smooth and efficient running of multispecialty clinics, as well as nurse-led clinics.
