Supply Desk is working in partnership with a friendly and inclusive primary school in Thame, seeking a nurturing and enthusiastic Reception Teacher to join their team on a part-time basis from September 2026. This is a wonderful opportunity to make a meaningful difference at the very start of a child’s school journey.
The Role
The Reception year is a vital bridge between early development and formal learning. This role focuses on creating a warm, structured, and engaging environment where children feel safe, valued, and excited to learn.
You will be responsible for:
Creating a stimulating, play-based learning environment aligned with the EYFS framework
Supporting pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development
Encouraging early communication, independence, and positive learning behaviours
Observing, assessing, and tracking progress to meet individual needs
Working collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and carers to support each child’s journey
The Ideal Candidate
You understand that Reception is about more than lessons—it’s about building confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning.
You will ideally:
Have experience teaching Reception or EYFS, or a strong understanding of the EYFS curriculum
Hold QTS (unqualified teachers with relevant experience are also welcome to apply)
Be patient, creative, and engaging
Demonstrate strong classroom management with a nurturing approach
Enjoy working as part of a supportive team and adapting to pupils’ needs
