Trust Librarian


40 Hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Salary Range: £39,125 - £44,272 per annum

(Starting salary will be subject to relevant experience and qualifications)


This post will be based onsite at the George Adams Research Centre in Clent, with a requirement for regular travel to Trust sites around the UK

Ruskin Mill Trust is seeking a dynamic and visionary Librarian to lead the development, digitisation and enrichment of our libraries and archives across multiple sites with the Trust.


Rooted in our unique educational approach, the post holder will ensure that our library spaces and systems reflect the Trust’s commitment to research-led practice, practitioner-led research, therapeutic education, and cultural engagement. You will be expected to work collaboratively with colleagues across education, research, and therapy to ensure the library serves as a vibrant hub for interdisciplinary learning and cultural enrichment.


Trust Librarian will be expected to:

* Ensure all library spaces are welcoming, well-organised, and conducive to learning and reflection
* Implement and maintain robust library systems for cataloguing, borrowing, and resource tracking
* Work closely with Ruskin Mill Centre of Practice, postgraduate programmes, and research staff to curate and approve new acquisitions
* Organise and host literary events including book launches, author talks, reading groups and book reviews.
* Promote staff engagement with library resources through creative programming and outreach
* Encourage and support staff development in library-related skills, digital literacy, and research methodologies
* Stay abreast of emerging trends in library science, digital archiving, and educational technologies, integrating innovations into Trust practices



To undertake this role, you should have a strong understanding of library systems, metadata standards and digital preservation and, hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Library/Archiving (MLS) accredited by the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP), or a willingness to gain such qualification.

The Ruskin Mill Centre for Practice delivers cross-Trust staff training and development in our method Practical Skills Therapeutic Education (PSTE), developing academic and action research into higher education and training in the method.


Established in 1984, Ruskin Mill Trust is an educational charity that operates in England, Scotland and Wales. We offer exciting outdoor learning environments, utilising practical land and craft activities to support the development of work and life skills in young people with autistic spectrum conditions and other learning differences.
