Job Introduction
At Turning Point, we support people across England with mental health issues. We make a real difference in their lives by providing personal, flexible, and realistic support to improve their quality of life in their communities. Passionate about people, you'll enjoy the scope and support to enhance your own life and career as you gain the experience, training, and education needed for career progression with us.
Raising the bar for people-centred outreach services, you’ll enable individuals to learn the skills and knowledge to understand and manage their own situations more independently. No matter how complex someone’s mental health needs, you’ll provide support that helps reduce isolation, promote community integration, and help individuals make the most of new opportunities.
The role involves rotational shifts including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements to support work/life balance.
Role Responsibilities
You will support clients in the community across Manchester, encouraging engagement in drop-in activities at community centres, attending medical appointments, and supporting social inclusion activities. You will work with clients in their own homes, assisting with medication management, daily activities, and providing emotional support when needed, reporting concerns to the Outreach Manager or Nurse Manager.
Working alongside qualified nurses as an Outreach Support Worker, you’ll recognize signs of deteriorating mental health and help implement interventions. Promoting independence, well-being, and healthy life choices, you’ll also support activities such as walks, theatre trips, gym sessions, and building social networks for clients in the community.
The Ideal Candidate
We are ideally seeking an Outreach Support Worker with experience working with individuals with long-term mental health issues and a solid understanding of their challenges and recovery processes.
A great team player with energy, you’ll need strong communication skills, a flexible approach, and a positive attitude to achieve targets in a dynamic environment. Empathy, understanding, and patience are essential, along with a passion for helping others and a love for engaging with people.
Having a driving licence is highly desirable.
