About the Role
Job Title: Nightshift Manager / Nightshift Supervisor
Location: Caythorpe Waste & Recycling Facility, Lincolnshire
Shift Pattern: Nightshift (rota-based)
Reports To: Site Manager / Operations Manager
Role Purpose
The Nightshift Manager has full responsibility for site operations during nightshift. The role is accountable for safety, efficiency, staffing, plant performance, product quality, and compliance. The Manager leads the nightshift team, ensures production targets are met, and acts as the senior decision‑maker on‑site throughout the shift.
Key Responsibilities
Site Operations
* Take full operational control of the site during nightshift
* Ensure all waste streams are processed safely and efficiently
* Deliver RDF and SRF production targets while minimising downtime
* Manage labour, plant, and resources to meet operational demands
* Prioritise workloads and respond to operational challenges
Health, Safety & Compliance
* Champion a strong safety‑first culture across the site
* Ensure compliance with all health & safety legislation, permits, and procedures
* Authorise and enforce safe systems of work and permit‑to‑work processes
* Lead incident response, investigations, and corrective actions
* Stop work where safety or compliance is compromised
Product Quality
* Ensure all RDF and SRF products meet required specifications
* Monitor contamination levels and take corrective action
* Ensure accurate documentation, load compliance, and traceability
People Management
* Lead, motivate, and manage all nightshift staff
* Manage attendance, performance, and discipline
* Deliver training, coaching, and mentoring
Maintenance & Asset Care
* Ensure plant and machinery are operated safely and correctly
* Oversee fault reporting and maintenance coordinationMaintain high housekeeping standards
Reporting & Communication
* Complete and review shift reports and production data
* Deliver clear handovers to day shift management
Experience & Skills
Essential
* Management experience in waste, recycling, or heavy industry
* Strong health & safety knowledge
* Ability to make decisions independently
Desirable
* RDF/SRF experience
* WAMITAB / COTC
* IOSH Managing Safely
* Mobile Machinery operations such as Loading Shovel, 360 Excavator and FLT desirable
