Location: Hackney
Pay: £101.40 per day
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:45pm (term time only)
Start Date: January 2026

This specialist SEMH provision supports pupils who experience social, emotional, and mental health needs, often linked to trauma, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), community violence, and knife crime exposure. Many pupils present with challenging behaviour, emotional dysregulation, and difficulties forming safe, trusting relationships.
This role is ideal for graduates who are resilient, reflective, and motivated to work in high-impact intervention settings.
Your Experience Will Include:
1. Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, self-esteem, and social skills
2. Working alongside staff to manage challenging behaviour and crisis situations
3. Supporting restorative conversations and conflict resolution
4. Assisting with mentoring, intervention groups, and 1:1 support
5. Helping pupils develop coping strategies, emotional literacy, and safer decision-making
6. Gaining exposure to trauma-informed practice, safeguarding, and risk assessment
7. Supporting preventative work around knife crime, exploitation, and peer pressure
This role offers outstanding preparation for careers in Clinical Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Youth Justice, Counselling Psychology, Social Work, or Mental Health Services.
Understanding SEMH in This Setting
SEMH needs often stem from complex social factors, including poverty, family breakdown, trauma, and community violence.
In this role, you’ll learn how to build consistent, trusting relationships, de-escalate conflict, and support young people to re-engage with education and society in a safe, positive way.
