Overview
We’re looking for Smart Meter Engineers with a track record of safety and customer excellence. You’ll be representing our brands in customers’ homes, so you’ll need to be just as happy talking to the customer and getting to know them as you are with the installation itself. You’ll be fitting meters; showing customers how their meter and in‑home display work; how it can help them save energy and answering any questions about the green‑energy revolution we are leading.
Responsibilities
* Represent Octopus Energy Services in customers’ homes.
* Install smart meters and in‑home displays.
* Explain meter operation and energy‑saving benefits to customers.
* Use OEM and third‑party tools to test and calibrate installations.
* Follow safety procedures and record‑keeping requirements.
* Collaborate with the office team to streamline service delivery.
* Participate in training and share best practices with colleagues.
* Serve on a rotating on‑call call‑out schedule (once every five weeks).
Qualifications
* MOCoPA certification held within the last 3 years and evidence provided.
* Gas Safe accreditation – CCN1/MET1 or CMA1/MET1 (or equivalent).
* Full UK driving licence with no more than 6 points.
Compensation & Benefits
* £36,500 starting salary.
* £2,500 annual performance bonus and fit bonuses.

* £250 call‑out retainer; paid door‑to‑door when called out.
Saturday Working Rates
* £50 for attending a Saturday.
* £70 for a dual‑fuel installation.
* £35 for a single‑fuel installation.
* Technical aborts paid at half rate.
Salary Range
£36,500 – £50,000 per year (Base £36,500 with potential to earn up to £50,000 OTE including bonus and on‑call).

On the day you’ll be welcomed by our team. We’ll check over your qualifications & ask you to complete a practical trade test to show off your skills. You’ll then have a short interview with an Area Manager so we can learn more about you, your experience and your motivation. You’ll also have the chance to ask any questions and learn more about life as a Smart Meter Engineer with Octopus.
