Design & Delivery Lead Technician
Working hours Full time 37 hours per week (flexible working arrangements including part time will be considered)

As part of the Integrated Design and Delivery team, the Lead Technician liaises with Capital Project stakeholders, Project Managers and the Engineering department to define the best technical and Totex solution to resolve an issue. You will plan the procurement and delivery of the solution, supervise contractors & sub-contractors, commission new assets and ensure all relevant asset records and documents are updated as per the NWL document requirement list.
In addition, you will support the technical development and training of the Design and Delivery Technicians, with on-the-job coaching, mentoring and direction. You may also mentor an apprentice or junior member of the team.
You will be responsible for the mobilisation of contractors to ensure they follow strict health, safety and wellbeing guidelines, including reviewing risk assessments and checking competencies. You will ensure the contractors site set up to fully complies with CDM regulations including producing and sharing the legal documentation.
You will manage the weekly ‘works programme’ ensuring that both the business and the installation service provider have visibility of forward activity levels. You will manage resources, both internal and external, to ensure that adequate resources, material, equipment and plant are made available to deliver the projects and schemes.
About you
You will have a proven track record in supervising contractors and construction activities including civils and MEICA activities. You will have a comprehensive knowledge of CDM and the required documentation, and a proven track record of managing health, safety and wellbeing, including reviewing contractor risk assessments and giving instruction to colleagues and contractors.
You can provide practical input into designs produced by colleagues or supply chain framework partners, and can assess the contractor’s documentation to identify any risks, implement appropriate control measures and communicate clearly to others.
You will have excellent communication skills, be able to communicate with multiple stakeholders and effectively engage with customers and colleagues, as well as motivating and supporting your team.
You will have a full UK Driving License, CITB SMSTS, Temporary Works Coordinator, NEBOSH Construction Certificate, First aid training and National Water Hygiene accreditation.
