Job Summary
We are seeking Band 4 qualified dental nurses to work at the Cheshunt clinic and provide cover across other HCT sites, including Hemel Hempstead, Watford, Letchworth, and Hatfield (in progress).
Responsibilities
* Assist the dental surgeon in providing a full range of NHS dental care, including treatment under inhalation sedation, general anaesthesia, or IV sedation where appropriate.
* Accurately record treatment using the R4 dental electronic system, charting from the dentist’s instructions at the time of treatment.
* Participate in the annual individual performance review process.
* Carry out other appropriate duties commensurate with the post, such as school visits, home visits, and epidemiology.
* Serve as a patient‑centred specialist for patients with additional needs.
* Work at any Special Care Dental Service sites throughout Hertfordshire to cover staff sickness, annual leave, study leave, etc., as required.
* Sit or stand for varying lengths of time in restricted positions and respond to unexpected changes, which may involve moving bulky heavy equipment such as hoists.
* Occasionally face direct exposure to distressing or emotional circumstances, such as during treatment of very sick children or patients with challenging behaviour.
* Although not legally required, staff are encouraged to be vaccinated against COVID‑19.
* Support post‑qualification progression, especially in oral health, and assist Band 4 nurses in completing the OH certificate to join the OH team and carry out nurse‑led clinics.
