Overview
Join to apply for the Healthcare Support Worker role at TQI Solutions. Job summary includes supporting the nursing team and other clinical staff in a large but friendly surgery. The role is based mainly at BCHC with possible work at the branch surgery on Bridge Street. Some home phlebotomy and occasional Saturday work may be required; driving is needed for home phlebotomy duties.
The successful candidate should be able to provide quality care, have good interpersonal and communication skills, and possess healthcare skills from a previous role.
Responsibilities
* The HCA will support the clinical Nursing team and other clinicians within the surgery, carrying out clinical tasks and assisting with housekeeping duties as required (ordering, cleaning, administration).
* Work within BCHC policies and local guidelines to ensure patient safety and know when to refer to a registered clinician.
* Clinical duties include but are not limited to: phlebotomy (including home phlebotomy), NHS health checks, ECG recordings, assisting with complex and simple dressings, urinalysis, blood pressure and weight measurements, administration of injections (B12, Pneumonia, Shingles), diabetes health checks and doppler studies.
* Ensure essential clinical supplies are ordered, and the department is clean, tidy and free from cross-infection risk.
* Operate as part of a large team, with comprehensive training and clinical supervision to ensure safe, effective practice.
Non-Clinical and Other Duties
* Maintain and stock clinical rooms, order supplies, and ensure health and safety standards are met, including cleaning, waste disposal and fridge stock/temperatures.
* Maintain clear and accurate records in line with practice policy; attend staff meetings and maintain confidentiality.
* Support research projects if applicable and cooperate with safeguarding, equality, diversity, and personal/professional development policies.
* Participate in training and annual performance reviews; take responsibility for own development.
Health, Safety, and Compliance
* Promote health and safety; manage risks; use infection control procedures; ensure work areas are tidy and hazard-free; report potential risks.
* Respect patient privacy and dignity; act in accordance with equality and diversity principles; safeguard children, young people and adults as required; maintain confidentiality.
* DBS Enhanced Disclosure may be required.
Qualifications and Skills
* Essential: satisfactory general education and relevant training (including Care Certificate); ability to deliver a service to others; good interpersonal, communication, and IT skills; ability to work independently and under pressure; flexible and adaptable to change; neat and tidy appearance; DBS disclosure willingness.
* Experience: ability to provide quality care; follow protocols; operate basic physiological recording equipment and accurately record findings; demonstrate care and compassion; work on own initiative.
