Details of Organisation/Business Directorate The Force Generation (FGen) Directorate provides the Royal Navy’s (RN) Scheduling Authority, In-Service Capability Management, an Intelligent Customer function and discharges legislative Duty Holding Responsibilities/Risk to Life management. The Director (Dir) FGen, as a 2* portfolio, includes 10x 1* areas and is approx. 40% of the RN in terms of workforce. FGen contributes to achieving the Defence Tasks set out each year in the Defence Plan and key activity & deliverables set out in the annual RN Command Plan. The Logistics Division 1* is responsible for logistic support to all in-service RN units. This includes Op logs planning; logs DLOD input to in-service capability management; acting as the Intelligent Customer to DE&S for commodities and the Joint Supply Chain; the support lead for land equipment operated by the RM; setting logistics policy, standards and practices; and maintaining provision of maritime fuels. Job Purpose - background and context The role serves as the Naval Command (NC) lead for Motor Transport (MT) and Ground Mobility (GM) activities, fostering a positive road safety culture within the Naval Service. It provides direction and guidance on all Royal Navy (RN) MT and GM policy and risk matters, ensuring a robust relationship with the C2 White Fleet Manager and reinforcing and supporting this position as needed. The role also acts as the Naval Command Headquarters (NCHQ) focal point and advisor on RN C Vehicles (C Veh) and Defence Mechanical Handling Equipment (DMHE) requirements, including advice on C Veh/DMHE for both afloat operations and airfield support to CSAV. Additionally, the role includes line management responsibilities for both the Royal Marines (RM) WO1 CMD and the RN MD, with first reporting officer (1RO) duties for the RN MD PART C - RESPONSIBILITIES Responsibility Percentage 1. Provide MT Policy support and RM Dvr Trg expertise to the RN driver training sponsor primarily through RM WO1 Tpt. Review the MTS training requirement across Navy Command, what level of MT trg senior MT staff in larger RN/RM units require and how this is to be delivered. 50% 2. Maintain close liaison with C1 MT Assurance & C1 Dangerous Goods NC staff and in particularly the C2 WF Mgr to ensure coherence for pan-MT Section activities/priorities, providing military advice and support. 10% 3. Monitor driver behaviour and provide D&G to improve road safety, driver awareness and compliance with MOD policy as military MT lead. 10% 4. Represent NC at 4*, 2* and 1* level WGs ensuring the requirements of NC are effectively represented, including Defence Road Safety WG, Project MITER WG, Tpt User WG (TUG), FLC Road Tpt Policy WG, Defence Road Tpt WG, Joint Steering Committee (C Vehs, DMHE & Protected Plant), MTSR WG, Blue Light WG and associated SEPs. 10% 5. Attend the RN/RM Course Setting Meeting led by the RM BM (TRA) Team and support the CMD by providing the sufficient numbers for all required RN MT SOTR courses. 5% 6. Support the continual review of the CSS Assurance regime, required for CF enduring forward presence. 5% 7. Champion and support the annual GM Spec Advisors Symposium, ensuring the capture of current MT & GM Risks/Issues are logged and raised at the appropriate level (1* & 2*). 5% 8.
