Position Description
This role involves conducting field activities to meet environmental compliance standards across disciplines such as waste, water, air, spill prevention (SPCC), storage tanks, and remediation. Key duties include sampling, calibration, data collection, and record keeping to demonstrate compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The position also involves some administrative tasks like data entry and file maintenance under minimal supervision.
Scope & Responsibilities
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Air: Managing the Leak Detection and Repair Program, sampling for fuel, flare gas, benzene fence line monitoring, conducting emission testing, and inspecting storage tanks.
* Storage Tanks: Performing inspections and auditing permits.
* Water: Sampling, reporting, and compliance documentation.
* Waste: Inspections and waste transportation coordination.
* Remediation: Monitoring wells, conducting inspections, and system maintenance.
* Spill Prevention & Control: Equipment inspections and spill containment monitoring.
* General: Maintenance requests, emergency response participation, and other duties as assigned.
Education & Qualifications
* Associate degree in sciences, environmental, or related fields; strong chemistry knowledge desirable.
* Experience with environmental concepts preferred.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other relevant software.
* Valid driver’s license required.
Competencies & Performance Areas
* Managing compliance tasks and deadlines.
* Certification in EPA Method 9 and HazMat handling/training.
* Understanding of regulations and policies.
* Effective communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
* Completion of mandated training programs.
Physical & Cognitive Demands
Cognitive: Meeting deadlines, attention, independent work, judgment, teamwork, reading, troubleshooting.
Physical: Seeing, hearing, speaking, sitting, walking, climbing, reaching, lifting (up to 50 lbs), working in confined or elevated spaces, in extreme temperatures, with hazardous materials. Overtime, shift work, and travel may be required.

This position emphasizes safety and quality, adhering to safety policies and promoting a zero-incident environment. Compliance with Process Safety Management and Refinery Conduct of Operations is critical. The company maintains an ISO-certified Quality Management System. Ongoing training and mentoring are integral to the culture.
