In‑School Primary Youth Worker
Frequency: Part Time or Full Time
Location: BS7 – Central Bristol
Teaching Personnel is excited to offer an opportunity for an In‑School Youth Worker to join one of our welcoming Central Bristol Primary schools.
In Primary Schools, you’ll play a key role in supporting young people who may face social, emotional, or behavioural challenges. You’ll work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and SEN staff to create a supportive, safe environment where students can grow in confidence, re‑engage with learning, and work towards positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide 1:1 and small‑group mentoring to students needing emotional, behavioural, or social support.
• Support young people in developing resilience, confidence, and positive relationships.
• Work with pastoral and safeguarding teams to identify barriers to learning.
• Promote positive behaviour and help students regulate emotions through calm, consistent support.
• Encourage engagement in lessons, routines, and wider school life.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with students, staff, and families.
Desirable Experience & Skills:
• Experience supporting young people aged 4 – 11 (youth work, mentoring, sports coaching, SEN support, residential work, etc.)
• Ability to remain calm, patient, and consistent when supporting challenging behaviour.
• Understanding of SEMH needs, trauma‑informed practice, or safeguarding.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain).
• A positive, empathetic approach and the ability to build strong rapport with young people.
• Ability to adapt your communication style to meet diverse student needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
