A well-established and Lexcel-accredited law firm in Wimbledon is seeking an experienced Accounts Manager to join its team. This is a fantastic opportunity to take over from the firm’s long-serving Accounts Manager, who is retiring after more than 25 years with the practice. The successful candidate will work alongside the current postholder for a comprehensive handover and introduction to the firm’s systems and procedures.
The following information provides an overview of the skills, qualities, and qualifications needed for this role.
Responsibilities include:
* Implement the firm’s accounts and invoicing procedures in line with the Solicitors Accounts Rules and office manual.
* Ensure that Client, Office, and other ledgers are properly maintained and fully compliant with all regulatory requirements.
* Carry out bank reconciliations and produce month-end and management account reports, including cashflow analysis.
* Manage credit control processes and oversee VAT returns.
* Coordinate the firm’s outsourced payroll function.
* Liaise with auditors for the preparation of annual accounts and the accountant’s report.
* Supervise any Accounts Assistants and support wider office management duties such as stationery and equipment procurement.
* Keep up to date with changes to the law and Solicitors Accounts Rules, ensuring the firm remains compliant.
* Provide excellent client care and maintain a high standard of professionalism in all dealings with third parties.
* Support the management team in implementing the firm’s business plan and maintaining effective internal controls.
* Take responsibility for ongoing professional development and ensure all work is performed accurately and reliably in line with the firm’s quality and risk procedures.
What we need from you:
* Extensive experience managing accounts within a law firm.
* Strong understanding of the Solicitors Accounts Rules, VAT, and Money Laundering Regulations.
* Previous experience working within a Lexcel-accredited firm is essential.
* Excellent IT skills, including experience with case management systems.
* Strong organisational and time management abilities, with the capacity to work independently.
* Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of integrity.
* Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Positive, proactive attitude with a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
