The Divisional Operational Director is a core member of the divisional leadership team.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will work closely with a Divisional Clinical Director, once appointed, and the wider divisional leadership team, with shared accountability for the leadership, management, and continuous improvement of the Division.
You will have evidenced experience of your leadership and your impact across a broad portfolio including strategy, planning and transformation; business, people, and financial management; performance and operations management; and risk management, clinical, quality, and service improvement. We are advertising for the role of Divisional Operational Director for Family Care.
The Divisional Operational Director is a key member of the leadership team for each division. Working with the Divisional Clinical Director and wider divisional leadership team, you will have shared accountability for the leadership, management, and continuous improvement of the Division. This includes accountability for high-quality patient care and safety, the delivery of performance and financial objectives, and ensuring the Division aligns with and contributes positively to the Trust’s strategic aims and objectives.
There are four Clinical Divisions in the Trust: Medicine and Emergency Care, Surgery, Family Care, and Diagnostics, Clinical Support, and Cancer (DCSC).
The Family Care Division has a budget of approximately £42.4m and about 700 colleagues. It comprises three Care Units: Maternity & Gynaecology, Child Health, and CAMHS, delivering high-quality, high-demand services to Chesterfield and North Derbyshire.
The Divisional Operational Director, accountable to the Chief Operating Officer, will lead the Divisional Clinical Director and wider Divisional Leadership Team and Service Managers in delivering this purpose. The post holder will also have a joint line management arrangement with HR and Clinical Governance colleagues providing shared support services to the DCSC Division.
A key focus will be supporting the Divisional Clinical Director and clinical leadership team in engaging clinical and administrative staff in complex management tasks, including preparation for annual operational planning and developing capacity and capability to meet local and national priorities.
The Divisional Operational Director is also a vital member of the Trust’s Leadership Team, leading Trust-wide programs and representing the Chief Operating Officer at internal and external meetings.
