GSL Education are recruiting for a compassionate and resilient Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to support pupils with Autism and Complex Needs at a specialist provision in Polegate. As a Learning Support Assistant (LSA), you will work alongside dedicated staff to provide consistent, individualised support to students with autism spectrum conditions and additional learning difficulties. You’ll help create a structured, safe, and supportive environment where every learner can thrive academically and emotionally. Your Role Will Include: Provide tailored 1:1 and group support for pupils with autism and complex learning needs. Assist the class teacher in adapting learning materials and managing classroom routines. Encourage communication, social interaction, and the development of life skills. Support with personal care and behaviour management, where necessary. Maintain detailed records of progress and contribute to Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs). Foster independence, confidence, and a positive attitude to learning. Job Requirements: Experience working with children or young people with autism and/or complex special educational needs. Knowledge of alternative communication methods (PECS, Makaton, AAC) is desirable. A calm, empathetic, and patient approach to challenging behaviours and sensory needs. Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and child development. Relevant training (e.g., Team Teach, Manual Handling, Autism Awareness) is an advantage. Have an updated CV ( covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps ) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one). Join GSL Education Today!
