East Calder Primary School is a non-denominational school serving the village of East Calder and the surrounding community. The school sits within the West Calder High School cluster. The total school roll is currently 370 pupils, including a nursery provision for up to 74 children in the morning/afternoon and full day sessions. The school has a growing role due to new housing developments within the community.
The staff team comprises 20 teachers, 2 Early Years Officers, 20 nursery staff, and 8 pupil support workers supporting learners from ELC to P7. The school management team includes the Head Teacher, Deputy Head Teacher, and Principal Teacher.
The school collaborates closely with West Calder High School cluster schools and maintains strong partnerships with local community groups and businesses. The school and ELC have a good reputation within the community and are well supported by the parent council and wider parent forum.
We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated Advanced Pupil Support Worker to provide 1:1 support for a learner, working Monday to Thursday. The successful candidate will be part of a forward-thinking team, with a sound knowledge of child development and additional support needs.
This position requires registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC). The successful candidate will have three months from start date to register with the SSSC and undertake a relevant qualification.
This role involves Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates must join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check before a formal offer of employment is made by West Lothian Council.
