The Place Independent School is for pupils with Social Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH). The school opened a few years ago and we run from Year 2 to Year 13. We had ofsted in March and was granted permission to expanded further. Over the next year, due to pupil numbers, we will be expanding the building (across 2 sites) and growing the team to those who would like to join this journey with us.
We believe that all our pupils are entitled to high quality learning experiences, where we support their needs holistically.
The role is for a teacher focusing on the Primary Curriculum for children from Year 2- Year 7. We offer exceptional and diverse teaching opportunities to support our pupils and make their time at school happy and productive, creating an inclusive learning environment where everyone feels valued and respects each other. Some young people have been out of school a long time or have not been able to access education- therefore you need to be able to think creatively and out of the box. Although some of our pupils have communication needs or are neuro-divergent linked to ACEs, there is no glass ceiling and we stand proudly with this philosophy.
TLRs are available for the right candidate who is ready for the next opportunity to develop however this isn’t a necessity.
Previous experience of working with children who struggle with ASD and regulating their behaviour or have experienced trauma would be desirable however excellent teaching skills and the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are just as important.
