The Job Summary:
The Supplier Warranty Engineer plays a key role in improving product quality and strengthening supplier partnerships. You’ll investigate warranty issues, recover costs, and drive corrective actions that prevent future defects. This is a hands-on role where you’ll collaborate across Quality, Purchasing, Logistics, and Engineering teams to deliver real improvements in component design and supplier processes.
The Role:
Responsibilities
* Manage supplier returns and warranty claims from start to finish.
* Analyse rejected parts, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions with suppliers.
* Track and report supplier performance, including quality and delivery metrics.
* Maintain accurate records of investigations and actions taken.
* Build strong relationships with suppliers to ensure timely resolution of issues.
* Work with internal teams to identify opportunities for supplier quality improvement.
* Support supplier audits and ensure compliance with quality standards.
* Collaborate with Procurement to hold suppliers accountable for defects and recover costs.
* Provide clear, regular reports to senior management on supplier performance and reclaim activities.
The Requirements
One of the following for educational requirments:
* 5 GCSE’s grade C and above including Maths
* Time served tradesperson through technical apprenticeship
* HNC engineering or related subject or equivalent
* Work experience demonstrating capacity to learn and develop new skills, complete written and numerical work required by the Job Description
Job experience:
* Minimum 4 years' experience in Quality role in a manufacturing industry Or Minimum 2 years' experience in Quality role in a in a highly regulated industry such as Automotive or Aerospace
Specialist Knowledge / Skills:
* Structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, PPS, DMAIC)
* Auditing skills
* Knowledge of Manufacturing processes, Inspection and test methods relevant to scope of responsibility
* Data analysis skills including statistical methods
* Understanding of relevant quality standards such as ISO 9001, IATF 16949 or AS9001
