A structured two-year scheme designed to support your development at the start of your Jacobs career journey, with blended learning, mentoring, progress reviews and networking across four focus areas: human skills, consulting skills, championing our strategy and your passions. The GDP is an on-the-job learning experience that helps you customise your learning journey to reflect your interests, career goals and technical skillset. The programme is a launchpad for your career, offering you tools, experiences and support to work on meaningful projects and collaborate with industry leaders to deliver outcomes for complex challenges.
About The Opportunity
Jacobs is a market leader in the transportation sector, working with major clients and delivering global and local initiatives. The successful candidate will gain on-the-job training using the latest software tools and exposure to various stages of schemes from concept through construction. You will assist and support colleagues in preparing feasibility studies, scheme reports and highway designs as part of your development to becoming a professionally qualified engineer. This opportunity is based in the Glasgow office, with a start date of September 2026.
Responsibilities
* Support on delivering Jacobs’ high-profile transportation projects and enquiries across the project lifecycle from concept to construction.
* Participate in feasibility studies, scheme reports and highway design preparations as part of professional development.
* Collaborate with managers and mentors to collect meaningful on-the-job learning experiences.
* Engage with the GDP structure, including blended learning, mentoring, progress reviews and networking.
What you’ll need
* Be working towards a Masters level qualification in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering with Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering with AI or Civil Engineering with Data.
* A flexible self-starter who is keen to drive your career forward
* Adaptable to change with a thirst for learning
* You must have the permanent right to work in the UK
