Job Details
* Job Title: RSAP Outreach Navigation Worker
* Reports to: Team Leader
* Salary: SCALE 6, POINT 26-28, £26,229 to £27,982 PER ANNUM
* Hours of work: Full Time (37.5 hours per week)
Key Responsibilities
1. Undertake assessments of housing and support needs for rough sleepers to prevent homelessness.
2. Ensure background checks are completed to develop risk management plans.
3. Maintain accurate electronic case records and keep data systems updated.
4. Collaborate with Birmingham City Council & Citizen Housing to provide housing options for young people.
5. Support young people with complex needs to sustain tenancies and improve life skills.
6. Build effective relationships with partners and agencies.
7. Provide holistic multi-agency responses to housing and support needs.
8. Work with statutory agencies to meet legal duties.
9. Safeguard vulnerable young people and adults at risk, escalating concerns appropriately.
10. Operate within a duty system at the Youth Hub as required.
11. Encourage vulnerable young people to access suitable accommodation.
12. Liaise with specialist agencies to facilitate access to services.
13. Advocate for young people to access services and coordinate agency support.
14. Meet reporting deadlines consistently.
Qualifications
* Essential: NVQ 3 Advice & Guidance, Health & Social Care or equivalent, or working towards Youth Work, Social Work or equivalent.
* Desirable: Housing Qualification.
Role Experience
* Experience in Youth Work, Residential or Social Work, Probation/Criminal Justice, Community Work, Education and Training, Housing and Support.
* Desirable: Experience working with Volunteers/Students, delivering frontline triage or assessment services.
Knowledge
* Housing Rights, Welfare Reform, Housing Legislation (Housing Act, Homelessness Reduction Act).
* Children’s Act (Sections 17, 20, 47).
* Anti-discriminatory practice and understanding of young people's complex needs.
* Support services including Mental Health, Social Care, Substance Misuse, CSE, County Lines.
Skills
* Motivating and relating to young people with complex needs.
* Effective communication, conflict management, case management, assessment, and decision-making skills.
* Partnership management and authority relations.
* Willingness to work outside normal hours as needed.
