Job Title: Business Development Executive
Summary: The primary focus of this position is to drive sales and profitability in support of the company’s ambitious growth strategy. This will be accomplished by researching, qualifying, and securing new business, as well as developing and implementing account development strategies in alignment with corporate objectives.

Responsibilities
1. Prospecting
* Actively generate a high volume of leads through cold calling, networking, and leveraging personal referrals.
* Build and maintain a robust network of external contacts to uncover new business opportunities.
* Conduct regular prospecting activities, including client presentations and visits.
* Perform needs analysis to design transportation, warehousing, and distribution solutions for prospects.
* Present solutions to operational management for review.
* Maintain and update the prospective client database.
* Utilize sales tools like Salesforce and LinkedIn Sales Navigator effectively.
* Stay informed about all service offerings to address client needs.
* Arrange and attend meetings with potential clients to foster relationships.
* Research emerging market opportunities for business growth.
1. Closing
* Engage in a consultative selling approach to prioritize customer needs and build relationships.
* Demonstrate negotiation and closing skills to secure deals.
* Negotiate rates and service agreements following company guidelines.
* Participate in sales strategy meetings.
* Follow up with customers on opportunities.
* Adhere to SOPs during onboarding and ensure smooth client transitions.
* Meet or exceed sales targets and budgets.
* Respond to RFPs timely and accurately.
2. Account Management and Development
* Build long-term client relationships for sustained growth.
* Educate customers on systems and policies, resolve complaints.
* Create new business opportunities and generate leads.
* Stay updated on industry trends.
* Leverage internal resources for customer support.
* Manage contract renewals and pricing adjustments.
* Follow SOPs for customer acquisition and tendering.
* Prepare presentations for business reviews.
3. Budgetary Responsibilities
* Work with management to set sales budgets and targets.
* Develop and present quotes for new business.
* Track and report expenses accurately.
4. Culture
* Support XTL’s principles and culture, embracing core values.
Performance Objectives
* Meet or exceed sales and revenue targets.
* Maintain a strong pipeline with regular client meetings.
* Grow and retain accounts, upselling where possible.
* Ensure operational compliance and accurate documentation.
* Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Minimum Requirements and Competencies
* 1-3 years experience in transportation, logistics sales, or operations.
* Knowledge of markets such as Retail, CPG, Food & Beverage, Packaging, Pulp & Paper (preferred).
* Post-secondary degree or diploma (preferred).
* Excellent communication and presentation skills.
* Strong negotiation and strategic thinking abilities.
* Proven success engaging decision-makers and building relationships.
* Goal-oriented with self-motivation and persistence.
* Proficiency in MS Office, Salesforce, LinkedIn Sales Navigator.
* Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
* Ability to travel within Canada and the U.S.
Resolution of Problems and Initiative
Manage an 8-12 month business cycle, demonstrate confidence in customer interactions.
Work Environment
Role involves travel and in-office work to develop relationships and operational knowledge. Capable of working independently and under pressure.
