About The Role
* Role: Housing Options Officer
* Location: Civic Centre, Leyland
* Contract: Full time (36.25 hours per week) / Permanent
* Salary: £34,434 - £37,280

As a Housing Options Officer, you will be the first point of contact for people in urgent need of housing advice and support. This role will play a vital part in reducing homelessness, focusing on early intervention and supporting individuals and families to achieve sustainable housing solutions. Every day you’ll make decisions that change lives—whether that’s negotiating with landlords, finding emergency accommodation, or guiding someone through the housing application process.
What you’ll be getting up to
* Providing high‑quality housing advice and assessments to customers who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
* Making robust housing decisions.
* Participating in a weekly duty assessment rota, with a requirement to work from the office for a minimum of three full days per week.
* Managing a complex and varied caseload.
* Keeping accurate and detailed case notes, ensuring all decisions comply with housing legislation and statutory guidance.
* Supporting colleagues to meet service demands.

Other requirements
* This role may require some travel around our boroughs. A valid driving licence or equivalent mobility is required.
* Successful applicants will be subject to a DBS check (applied and paid for by the Council).
