Overview
Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking a qualified Corporate Litigation Solicitor/Barrister for a part-time, permanent role (29.6 hours per week). The position is based with Agile working between Dudley Town Centre and home, with salary on Grade 12 (SCP 40-43, pro rata £51,356.00 to £54,495.00 per annum).
The successful candidate will work within the Council’s Legal Services Corporate and Litigation Team, handling civil litigation matters, managing caseloads, preparing court bundles, attending court, and providing legal advice to the Council’s officers and Elected Members.
The Council supports flexible working, subject to business needs. Prior local government experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently and within a wider team are essential.
Responsibilities
* Deal with various civil litigation matters within the Corporate and Litigation Team.
* Manage caseloads and prepare court bundles.
* Attend court sessions and provide legal advice to Council officers and Elected Members.
Qualifications and Skills
* Qualified Solicitor or Barrister with experience in Civil Litigation Law.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team, including cross-directorate work and with external bodies.
* Experience in local government and good communication skills; ability to manage large caseloads.
