Role Overview
The Delivery Manager at MSQ DX is responsible for leading the successful delivery of complex digital projects and programmes for our clients. You will oversee multiple concurrent workstreams, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and commercially successfully while maintaining high standards of quality and client satisfaction.
Working closely with Technical Product Owners, client stakeholders, and multidisciplinary delivery teams, you will translate business objectives into structured delivery plans and guide teams through agile ways of working.
You will also play an important role in strengthening MSQ DX’s delivery capability by mentoring junior colleagues, improving delivery frameworks, and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Project and Programme Delivery
* Lead the end-to-end delivery of multiple concurrent digital projects and programmes, from inception through to launch and beyond.
* Translate client objectives and business requirements into clear delivery plans with defined milestones, dependencies, and acceptance criteria.
* Maintain and communicate project plans, RAID logs, burn-down charts, and resource forecasts to internal and client stakeholders.
* Manage one or more large projects or workstreams simultaneously, ensuring observable progress toward strategic objectives throughout the project lifecycle.
* Work closely with Technical Product Owners (TPOs) to deliver against approved Statements of Work and project budgets.
* Ensure MSQ DX delivery best practices, standards, and processes are consistently applied across all workstreams.
* Support and mentor Associate Delivery Managers and junior team members to ensure effective delivery of their workstreams.
Agile Delivery and Continuous Improvement
* Facilitate agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, adapting cadence and format to suit the engagement.
* Act as Scrum Master on specific client accounts where required, removing impediments and protecting team focus.
* Reinforce and evolve agile best practices across client engagements and the wider delivery team.
* Contribute to the development and oversight of delivery frameworks, standards, and tooling within MSQ DX.
* Champion a culture of continuous improvement by leveraging retrospective insights and delivery metrics to drive meaningful change.
Commercial and Financial Management
* Own the commercial health of projects, including accurate revenue forecasting, end-of-month billing, and client invoicing.
* Track budget expenditure across the project lifecycle, managing burn rates and identifying variances early.
* Achieve agreed profitability targets on engagements.
* Resolve billing queries with clients or escalate significant issues to the Client Account Lead.
* Support scoping, estimation, and commercial planning for new and follow-on work, contributing to proposals and Statements of Work.
Resource Management
* Forecast and schedule project resources, balancing team capacity with delivery commitments.
* Resolve short-term resource conflicts and support junior colleagues in doing the same.
* Provide longer-term resource forecasts for capacity planning meetings.
* Reallocate unused resources effectively and follow established processes for booking specialist capabilities.
Project Governance and Risk Management
* Monitor and mitigate project risks through active RAID management and regular review sessions.
* Conduct project health checks and regular progress and expenditure reviews with client-side stakeholders.
* Draft and maintain Statements of Work, change requests, and governance documentation for review by senior leadership.
* Ensure projects are delivered in line with MSQ DX agile delivery practices and governance standards.
Stakeholder and Client Relationship Management
* Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for clients, building trusted relationships through transparency and reliability.
* Manage client expectations around scope, budget, and delivery outcomes.
* Prepare and present client-ready status reports, steering committee updates, and executive summaries.
* Escalate risks and issues proactively with clear mitigation plans.
* Identify opportunities to grow existing client accounts and support business development activities including proposals and pitches.
People and Team Culture
* Monitor team wellbeing and morale, identifying workload pressures early.
* Foster an environment where cross-functional teams can collaborate effectively and perform at their best.
* Mentor and coach junior delivery professionals to develop their commercial awareness, stakeholder management, and delivery skills.
* Contribute to the MSQ DX delivery community through knowledge sharing, forums, and onboarding support.
Skills and Experience
What You Will Bring
* Proven experience in delivery, project, or programme management within a digital agency, consultancy, or technology environment.
* A strong track record delivering complex digital initiatives such as web platforms, ecommerce solutions, CRM, martech, data platforms, or bespoke applications.
* Deep understanding of agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, or similar) with practical experience facilitating agile ceremonies.
* Strong commercial acumen, including experience managing budgets, burn rates, revenue forecasting, and project profitability.
* Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to translate technical complexity into clear business language.
* Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
* Experience using delivery and collaboration tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, Smartsheet, or similar.
* Strong emotional intelligence and interpersonal awareness.
* A confident communicator who builds trust with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams.
What Would Set You Apart
* Experience acting as a Client Account Lead or supporting account growth alongside Client Services leadership.
* Exposure to scaled agile frameworks such as SAFe, Nexus, LeSS, or Scaled Scrum.
* Professional certifications such as Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Product Owner (CSPO), SAFe Agilist, AgilePM, PRINCE2, or equivalent.
* Experience contributing to delivery best practice, tooling, or operational improvement initiatives.
* Familiarity with agency-consultancy operating models and cross-agency collaboration.
* Exposure to emerging delivery considerations such as AI-augmented workflows, data-led delivery, or transformation programme governance.
* A genuine interest in mentoring others and developing delivery capability within teams.
