Bright Star Talent is seeking a dedicated, resilient, and compassionate Behaviour Mentor to work within a supportive school setting in the B23 area of Birmingham.
This role focuses on supporting pupils who may present challenging behaviour, SEMH needs (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), and barriers to learning. You will play a vital role in helping pupils develop positive behaviour strategies, improve emotional regulation, and successfully engage in their education.
🎯 Key Responsibilities
* Provide targeted 1:1 and small group behaviour interventions.
* Support pupils in managing emotions, behaviour, and conflict situations.
* Work closely with pastoral leaders, SENCO, and teaching staff.
* Support pupils with attendance, wellbeing, and engagement in school life.
* Use de-escalation strategies to maintain a calm and safe environment.
* Promote self-esteem, confidence, and resilience.
* Encourage positive behaviour across all areas of the school.
👤 The Ideal Candidate
* Experience working with children or young people (school, PRU, youth work, or similar)
* Strong understanding of behaviour management and SEMH needs
* Calm, patient, and confident in challenging situations
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
Desirable:
* Team Teach or equivalent behaviour management training
* Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or Youth Work qualification
* Experience in a school behaviour or pastoral role
* DBS on the update service.
