We currently have a vacancy for an Internal Audit Manager to join our Internal Audit Team.
The team sits within our Corporate Centre and provides the assurance services to the Combined Authority by delivering a robust audit and investigation programme each year. The focus of the work includes strategic assurance across the breadth of activities of the Combined Authority and particularly supports the major programmes and projects including key deliverables around Mass Transit, Bus Franchising, Better Homes, Adult Education Budget to name a few.
Our Internal Audit Manager is a new role that is designed to provide strategic support to the Head of Internal Audit, as well as helping to deliver the 5-year Internal Audit strategy. The role will provide deputising opportunities as well as a significant chance to influence and support the positive development of the team.

The Role
Reporting into the Head of Internal Audit, your key responsibilities will include:
· Take the strategic lead for development and delivery of the full annual audit programme, including management of principal auditors who have specified areas of responsibility.
· Lead on strategy development for the function and work with other teams in the organisation to identify improvements in internal control, governance, risk management.
· Provide a source of expert advice/consultancy, including attendance at relevant boards, on a wide range of internal control, corporate governance and risk management arrangements, deputising for the HIA wherever needed.

About You
You will have the following key skills, attributes, education and experience:
· Relevant professional qualification (eg CCAB qualified accountant or CMIIA).
· Holds a degree or has equivalent relevant experience in Internal Audit.
· Strong communication skills with the proven ability to influence, negotiate and challenge.
· Experience of managing people including appraisals, performance management, disciplinary, recruitment and selection.
· Experience of prioritising, planning and organising workloads to manage expectations and deadlines.
