Consultant Speech and Language Therapist – Adult Learning Disabilities
Based in Inverness
Permanent 0.80 WTE post
We are looking for an enthusiastic, suitably qualified and experienced Consultant Speech and Language Therapist to take a leading role for Adult Learning Disabilities across North Highland. The role will lead the ALD Service within the Corbett Centre, Inverness, providing services to NHS Highland North HSCP.
Responsibilities
* Leadership, development and provision of a dynamic specialist Speech and Language Therapy service to adults with learning disabilities and/or autistic spectrum disorders who have communication and/or eating and drinking difficulties.
* Specialist professional leadership for the ALD SLT team and wider team to maintain excellent standards of service, promote team cohesion and provide strategic guidance and oversight for the current ALD service into the wider MDT.
* Day‑to‑day coordination of ALD SLT service delivery.
* Provide highly specialist clinical input and consultancy support for adults with learning disabilities, their carers and statutory voluntary bodies.
* Complex case management.
* Strategic guidance for the Adult SLT Head of Service and the AHP Lead.
* Clinical leadership and strategic direction for the Speech and Language Therapy service for adults with learning disabilities in North Highland.
* Advice and education for multidisciplinary teams, undertaking specialist teaching within the clinical areas of ALD to a diverse range of professionals, carers and students, and supervision of less experienced therapists.
Qualifications and experience
* BSc— or equivalent—in Speech Pathology and Therapeutics.
* Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCSC) (registration with RCSLT preferred).
* Extensive relevant experience of working in ALD SLT.
* Demonstrated excellent leadership, strategic planning and communication skills.
* Driving licence required – travel across the Highland area is an essential part of the role.
