Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 pro-rata dependant on experience
Job Summary:
The Project and Design Manager is responsible for leading the planning, execution, and delivery of design-led projects from inception to completion. This role bridges the gap between creative design vision and project execution, ensuring that design quality is maintained while delivering projects on time, within budget, and according to scope.
The function focuses on aligning project execution with organizational goals using established methodologies and tools, optimizing resource utilization, managing risks, and ensuring stakeholder satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management:
* Lead end-to-end project lifecycle management including planning, budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, and risk management to avoid disruption to services.
* Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans and timelines.
* Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to meet project milestones and ensure compliance with all relevant standards.
* Monitor progress, resolve project issues, and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
* Ensure transparency, accountability, and consistent project leadership throughout the lifecycle.
Design Oversight:
* Translate company needs and strategic objectives into innovative, functional design solutions.
* Review and approve design concepts, drawings, and technical specifications.
* Ensure adherence to design standards, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
* Preserve the integrity and intent of the design throughout project delivery.
Leadership & Collaboration:
* Lead and inspire cross-functional teams including employees, designers, engineers, contractors, and consultants.
* Facilitate design workshops, reviews, and project meetings.
* Promote a collaborative, solution-oriented, and supportive team culture.
* Mentor junior team members and foster continuous professional development.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
* Bachelor’s degree in design, engineering, or a related field.
Certifications:
* Project Management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is highly desirable.
Experience:
* Minimum 5 years of experience in managing design-oriented projects.
Skills and Knowledge:
* Strong understanding of design principles, materials, construction methods, and regulatory standards.
* Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project) and design software (e.g., AutoCAD).
* Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
* Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
* Sound knowledge of regulatory compliance, including Health & Safety (H&S).
