Job Overview
East Suffolk Council is looking for a GIS (Geographic Information System) Officer to join the Digital and Programme Team. The role involves proactively leading, managing and developing the Council’s GIS, working closely with digital colleagues and other teams to maximise the use of spatial data as part of our digital strategy.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and develop the Council’s GIS infrastructure and spatial data strategy.
• Collaborate with the Digital team and other Council units to integrate spatial data into service delivery and strategic planning.
• Manage GIS software platforms including ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Pro.
• Analyse spatial data to support decision‑making and provide insights to stakeholders.
• Communicate effectively with a range of contacts across the Council.
Qualifications
• High level of IT literacy within the GIS sphere.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to work in a logical, focused way.
• Experience and confidence in using ESRI ArcGIS software (ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work successfully with a range of contacts.
• Above all, a motivation to drive spatial data forward for local government.
