Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to undertake the role of part-time Healthcare Assistant. We are a small and friendly practice with approximately 6300 patients. The successful applicant will have good clinical, IT and interpersonal skils and be willing to upskill according to need. Experience of working in a GP Practice is not essential as full training, supervision and mentoring will be provided.
The role is for 25-30 hours over three days, Monday, Tuesday and Friday, including one late finish.
Main duties of the job
Under the supervision of a registered Nurse, you will be expected to support the nursing team by undertaking a range of duties.
The main duties of the job are:
-Blood pressure checks
-Phlebotomy
-Dressing/wounds checks
-Ear Syringing
-ECGs
-Diabetic checks
-Specific injections covered by a PSD, eg, flu vaccinations, B12 etc
-NHS health checks
-Supporting Nursing Team with Health promotions programmes
-Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
-Monitoring and recording fridge temperatures in line with the Practices Cold Chain Policy
Other duties include:
-Maintaining clean equipment following proper training

About us
St Thomas Road Surgery has 4 GP Partners and 1 Nurse Partner. We have a steady list size and we are looking to add to our nursing team. We have a lead nurse and two further registered nurses with two part time Healthcare Assistants.
We are part of the Wakefield North PCN where we are supported by various ARRS roles including Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technician, Paramedic, Patient Care-Cordinator and Health & Wellbeing Coach.

-The checking and recording of medical supplies on receipt
-Administering of Influenza and pneumococcal vaccinationsand Vitamin B12 injections under a PSD
