Job Description:
Summary
Yelp engineering culture is driven by our values: we’re a cooperative team that values individual authenticity and encourages creative solutions to problems. All new engineers deploy working code their first week, and we strive to broaden individual impact with support from managers, mentors, and teams. At the end of the day, we’re all about helping our users, growing as engineers, and having fun in a collaborative environment.
Want to join a team where your work makes a significant impact and is seen by millions of users? We are responsible for onboarding new business users on Yelp for Business by building the best-in-class signup and claiming experience.
Full Stack engineers at Yelp have the flexibility to work on a wide subset of software development. You will develop highly performant APIs on the backend, as well as create visual components for user interaction. If you enjoy playing an active role in the end-to-end product development lifecycle, this is the role for you.
This opportunity requires you to be located in the United Kingdom. We encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every single requirement listed. At Yelp, we value great people, not just those who check all the boxes.
What you'll do:
* Design and build new features to connect Yelp users with businesses at a large scale.
* Iterate quickly using Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment principles.
* Collaborate with team members and engineers across the company to design reliable systems.
* Implement beautiful, modern, and responsive features.
* Deploy projects in a Service-Oriented Architecture, from backend services to fully-featured UIs.
* Run A/B experiments and analyze data to identify trends.
* Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineering teams.
What it takes to succeed:
* Experience in at least one server-side programming language, preferably Python.
* Experience with at least one front-end framework and technology, preferably React.
* Interest in scalability, reliability, and performance challenges.
* Passion for Yelp and its mission to connect people with great local businesses.
* Understanding of web security and performance best practices.
* Comfortable working in a Unix environment.
What you'll get:
* Full responsibility for projects from day one, a collaborative team, and a dynamic work environment.
* Competitive salary, pension scheme, and optional employee stock purchase plan.
* 25 days paid holiday (rising to 29 with service), plus one floating holiday.
* £150 monthly reimbursement for remote working expenses.
* £81 caregiver reimbursement to support dependent care for families.
* Private health insurance, including dental and vision.
* Flexible working hours and meeting-free Wednesdays.
* Regular 3-day Hackathons, bi-weekly learning groups, and productivity spending to support your career growth.
* Opportunities to participate in digital events and conferences.
* £81 per month for wellness expenses.
* Quarterly team offsites.
