Overview
The Office of the Dean of Students is responsible for providing support for the student community, educational engagement, and community partnerships, and are committed to our role in student success. Our teams cover a range of responsibilities including community partnership, student procedures, student support and welfare, student wellbeing, chaplaincy, and day nursery.
Main duties and responsibilities
The Student Support Advisor (Domestic Abuse, Sexual Violence and Misconduct) will be a point of contact for students requiring the services of the Harassment, Domestic and Sexual Misconduct team and you will provide specialist advice, guidance and support to students across the university. You will supplement and bolster the advice and support available and offer a source of specialist emotional and practical support to students following domestic abuse, sexual harassment, or sexual assault. You will support service delivery on projects, training, and events to both students and staff. You will develop and maintain positive links through effective communication systems with internal and external stakeholders.
Skills and experience required
Demonstrable experience of providing specialist confidential, impartial advice, guidance and support to workforce or service users, and previous experience working in an IDVA and/or ISVA role is essential for this role. The role requires excellent interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to engage professionally with staff, students and external stakeholders, whilst maintaining confidentiality, impartiality and professionalism. You will have expert-user IT skills and have the ability to deliver and facilitate training and presentations.
Qualifications required
Minimum of a Degree or equivalent, or proven experience in a relevant field. Accredited ISVA (Independent Sexual Violence Advisor) and/or IDVA (Independent Domestic Violence Advisor) qualification.
Compliance and vetting
This post is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 as amended. The University requires that the successful applicant who is offered employment will be subject to a criminal record check from the Disclosure Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed. Additional eligibility
