We are currently recruiting for a part-time Firearms Administrator to work for Devon and Cornwall Police at their headquarters in Middlemoor Exeter.\n\nThis is a temporary role for 6 months from start date. You will be working 3.5 days a week (days and times to be discussed at interview)\n\nPrincipal Responsibility\n\nTo provide an effective and efficient quality administrative service to the firearms licensing team, seeking to ensure that all firearms licensing applications are in support of legal activity. In particular, to:\n\nUndertake processing activities flagging any concerns or suspicions of potentially criminal activity to the Supervisors.\nMaintain awareness and update knowledge in the area of Firearms Legislation and changing processes and procedures.\nProvide customer focused point of contact for telephone enquiries to the team, providing advice and guidance to callers on all aspects of firearms licensing.\nProduce cash log on a daily basis if required, ensuring reconciliation between records and value of cheques received.\nReceive, sort and distribute high volumes of mail.\nCarry out checks on applicants using Alliance intelligence systems.\nEnsure that all applications are appropriately and accurately indexed.\nScan application documents for retention on suitable database, ensuring archived material is fully recorded and stored prior to disposal of the hard copy.\nSeek opportunities for continuous improvements to processes, highlighting opportunities for improvements to the Supervisors.\nRepresent, on occasions, as the team's representativeRole-Specific Training and CPD to be undertaken.\n\nVarious Alliance and national IT systems\nFirearms License Legislation\nHome Office guidance\nAlliance Policy and Procedures\nCode of Ethics\nNDM trainingEssential Activities of the role\n\nInput, retrieve and present data using a computer\nMaintain a record management system\nProduce and present documents using a computer\nProvide customer service\nProvide specialist advice and knowledgeEssential experience and specialist skills and knowledge\n\nExperience of using IT systems, including Microsoft Office applications\nDemonstrable customer care skills\nAbility to organise work effectively in order to meet deadlines and targets\nProven administrative skills\nGood verbal and written communication skillsEssential Behavioural Competencies\n\nOpenness to change\nRespect for race and diversity\nTeam working\nCommunity and customer focus\nEffective communication\nProblem solving\nPlanning and organising\nPersonal responsibility \n\nAdecco acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and an employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
