Job Purpose
The Motor Vehicle Lecturer will deliver high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment across motor vehicle and automotive engineering programmes. The role is to support learners in developing the practical, theoretical, and employability skills required for careers in the automotive industry.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
* Deliver engaging lessons across Motor Vehicle programmes (e.g. Level 1–3 Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair).
* Teach practical workshop-based sessions and classroom theory.
* Plan and deliver schemes of work and lesson plans aligned to awarding body requirements.
* Assess learner work, provide timely feedback, and accurately record progress and achievement.
* Support learners with a range of abilities, including those with additional learning needs.
Professional Practice
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of automotive technologies, including hybrid and electric vehicles where applicable.
* Comply with safeguarding, health and safety, and equality and diversity policies.
* Participate in meetings, training, and continuous professional development (CPD).
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
* Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or Automotive Engineering.
* Relevant industry experience within the motor vehicle sector.
* Strong practical and theoretical knowledge of vehicle systems.
* GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Desirable
* Teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, CertEd, or Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training).
* Assessing qualifications (e.g. TAQA).
* Experience teaching in a Further Education or training environment.
* Knowledge of City & Guilds, IMI, or EAL qualifications.
* Experience with EV/hybrid systems and diagnostics.
