Goldington Avenue Surgery is looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Patient Care Team Member to join our team on a part-time basis.
The role is for up to 20 hours per week and must include Wednesday and Thursday afternoons (1.00pm to 6.30pm). Additional hours may be worked on other days, subject to agreement with the successful candidate.
The patient care team play a pivotal role in the experience of patients at our practice, helping them to access the right services, signposting and dealing with their queries face‑to‑face, online and by telephone.
This is a varied and challenging role, but is also rewarding when we can see how we are able to help our patients when they need us the most, and also to improve their overall health. General practice is a challenging environment that requires a calm and caring approach with the ability to work under pressure.
Main duties of the job
* Greeting and directing all patients.
* Working as part of the reception team.
* Answering the phones.
* Assisting patients in making appointments.
* Answering queries and complaints from patients and outside agencies, signposting to the appropriate staff member as appropriate.
* Accepting and handing out letters, completed forms, specimen bottles, etc.
* Advising patients of practice procedures.
* Accurately maintaining patient records.
* Admin duties as instructed by the line manager.
Experience
* Ability to work in a polite, confidential and discreet manner, respecting patients and colleagues at all times.
* Experience of working with the general public, being sensitive and empathic in distressing situations.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Strong IT and administration skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Previous experience isn't necessary, who you are is the most important factor. Full training will be provided.
* Some flexibility is required, as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues.
* Previous medical or healthcare reception experience is desirable.
