BSA Principal Designer Location: Manchester Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 UK ¦ Permanent ¦ 37.5 hours per week Clarke is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented BSA Principal Designer to lead compliance efforts under the Building Safety Act across telecom infrastructure projects. This is a pivotal role for someone with deep knowledge of building regulations, strong stakeholder management skills and a passion for delivering safe, compliant and innovative design solutions. The Role You will be the single point of contact for all Building Safety Act matters throughout the design lifecycle. You’ll lead Gateway 2 submissions, ensure quality assurance of all documentation and maintain the golden thread of information for high-risk buildings (HRBs). Location: Flexible – most of our Design team is based at our Headquarters in Manchester, but you can also work from one of our offices in Glasgow, Newbury, or Redhill on a hybrid basis. We would consider remote work for the right candidate. UK-wide travel to other office and site locations may be required. Key Responsibilities * Ensure full compliance with the Building Safety Act and associated regulations. * Act as the primary liaison for clients, BSR, site owners, and consultants on BSA matters. * Lead Gateway 2 submissions and sign-off all BSA documentation before submission. * Provide feedback on structural calculations, risk assessments, and construction drawings. * Report regularly on application progress internally and to clients. * Coordinate with build teams and Principal Contractors for Gateway 2 and 3 submissions. * Maintain accurate documentation to uphold the golden thread of information. * Drive cost-awareness and efficiency throughout project delivery. * Ensure QA standards in line with ISO and BSI requirements. What We’re Looking For Essential: * Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience. * Proven experience in a Principal Designer or Building Safety role. * Extensive knowledge of building regulations, Building Safety Act 2022, and CDM 2015. * Qualifications in structural design, building inspection or surveying. * Ability to quality-check CAD drawings. * Strong stakeholder management and communication skills. * Valid UK driving licence. Desirable: * Experience managing cross-functional, remote teams. * Commercial awareness and ability to deliver cost-benefit analysis. * Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). * Track record of driving continuous improvement and best practice.
