We are looking for a Lead Nurse within our National Referral Centre (NRC), our hub that manages all our tissue donor referrals, to be responsible and accountable for maximising tissue donation within NHSBT, being accountable for team performance. You will be accountable for leading the team responsible for the clinical assessment and consent of all potential tissue donors and their engagement with all stakeholders involved in the donation process. This role will be pivotal in ensuring we provide a world class tissue donation service and critical to the future developments of the team and department.
Main duties of the job
Your main duties will also include:
1. To be responsible and accountable for professional standard setting of world class nursing performance ensuring all potential donor families are approached regarding donation with care and compassion.
2. Clinical and professional leader for National Referral Centre offering highly specialist clinical and professional advice in the field of tissue donation including consent, donor suitability and regulatory compliance.
3. Responsible for the provision of a service days per year which includes donor referral selection ensuring that all donations are made with appropriate and legal consent which also meets the requirements of the relevant professional statutory requirements.
4. Manages clinical aspects of tissue donation ensuring the required quality and regulatory requirements are met in all aspects. Accountable for the performance, clinical and professional standards and implement the future direction of tissue donation after death in conjunction with the Head of Service Delivery – Tissue Donation.
5. To be a member of the Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation nursing team and to be recognised as a clinical expert for advice and education nationally.
6. To participate in the Duty Manager on-call rota providing support and leadership to OTDT/ TES as required

Experience and Knowledge
7. Demonstrates experience of clinical leadership at departmental level.
8. Demonstrates experience of planning, implementing and evaluating changes in clinical practice at departmental level.
9. Demonstrates an understanding of performance objectives and organisational targets.
10. Demonstrates experience of clinical teaching, and mentoring/coaching.
11. Demonstrates an understanding of the principles of clinical audit and research.
12. Demonstrates involvement in professional development, both personal and of others.
13. Demonstrates an awareness of current issues and trends in nursing.
Qualifications and Training
14. Educated to Masters level either by NMC registration (Sub part 1:RN1/RNA Adult Nurse level 1) as a registered nurse.
15. Possession of MSc / MA in clinical field or relevant discipline OR equivalent level of highly developed post-registration / qualification specialist knowledge gained through formal training.
16. Demonstrate commitment to own Continued Professional Development (CPD).
17. Possesses a teaching/assessment qualification e.g. ENB .
