Children’s Services Manager, Children & Families, Stornoway
37 hours per week, Permanent post
£56, to £61, per annum, inclusive of £2, per annum Distant Islands Allowance
A Children’s Services Manager is sought to be responsible for the operational management and delivery of Children and Families Social Work function (i.e. Child Protection, Looked After Children, Youth Justice, Throughcare/Aftercare, and family-based therapeutic inputs) throughout the Western Isles. The Children’s Services Manager will be responsible for the strategic development of Children’s Services along with the Head of Service and Children’s Services Manager – Resources.
You will have a working knowledge of integrated assessment and care management, a robust knowledge of childcare legislation and guidance and an understanding of current social policy, as it affects Children and Families social work.
You must have a Diploma in Social work or equivalent with extensive post qualifying experience of Social Work, in a local authority setting. You will also have experience of chairing Child Care Reviews and monitoring quality of child care services. You should have a proven track record of working effectively with other services and agencies, and experience of management in Social Work. You should have the ability to manage competing demands and assist others in managing theirs, good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and problem solve and the ability to lead and motivate staff and to support them.
A full UK driving licence is essential.
