Responsibilities
* Undertake, coordinate and drive a team in the recruitment of patients to clinical trials, working closely with the Radiotherapy Service to forge links and provide a thorough, high quality and efficient service encompassing all aspects of radiotherapy treatment delivery and patient care.
* Collaborate with the team lead to develop and grow the research portfolio across your designated speciality area, managing and coordinating clinical trials collaboratively with research and multidisciplinary teams.
* Accountable for the assessment, planning, organisation and ongoing care of research participants, whilst maximising compliance with study/trial protocol.
* Provide expert direction, support, supervision and management of staff, assisting with training to ensure conformity to protocol and practice guidelines.
* Ensure clinical knowledge and skills around a variety of conditions through working closely with consultants, specialist nurses and multidisciplinary teams.
* Operate within the UK Clinical Trials Regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP), providing assurance that the rights, safety and well‑being of trial participants are protected.
* Deliver and clinically manage your own portfolio of academic and commercial research studies, providing expert research support to investigators within the specialty of Oncology research, specifically radiography.
Qualifications & Experience
* NMC Registered Nurse/Degree in Radiotherapy or equivalent
* NMC/HPC registration
* ICH‑GCP certificate or willingness to undertake
* Significant post‑qualification clinical experience
* Research trials experience, including academic clinical trial experience
* Conversant with DoH Research Governance Framework for Health and Social Care, ICH GCP, the European Union Clinical Trials Directive & Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trials) Regulations
* NHS experience
* Evidence of continued professional development
* Teaching (desirable)
* Masters (desirable)
* Audit experience (desirable)
* Research methodology training (desirable)
* Good computer literacy including e‑mail and internet (desirable)
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills (desirable)
* Ability to be a research advocate and positive role model (desirable)
* High level of technical competence across pre‑treatment, planning, treatment and imaging
* Understanding of the principles of QA and audit
* Ability to manage own time and workload with minimal supervision
* Ability to work in a self‑directed manner while contributing to a team
* Able to manage, lead and motivate a team
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to communicate complex information to patients, carers and MDT members
