Look no further, as we have a Special Educational Needs (SEN) School in Leatherhead for children with additional learning needs. Most children have speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), and an Autism diagnosis.
This school is looking for a passionate and committed Aspiring Speech and Language Therapist to work as a SEN Learning Support Assistant in their school for children aged 4-16. You will be supporting a small class of 7-10 students, working in partnership with the school's teaching staff, therapists, and support staff team to deliver specific interventions that aim to boost students' learning, development, and language acquisition.
This Leatherhead-based Aspiring Speech and Language Therapist role is ideal for graduates and trainees. You will have the opportunity to work alongside qualified Speech and Language Therapists (SALT) and deliver interventions to children with speech, language, and communication needs both in a small group and 1:1. You will make a real difference to the lives of the children, gaining vital experience which will enable you to kick-start your future career as a Speech and Language Therapist.
Job Role and Responsibilities:
1. Assist the class teacher in providing the learning experience of students
2. Behaviour and pastoral support
3. Take an active role in forward planning with therapists
4. Ability to build robust and effective relationships with students
5. Practical approach to meet the individual needs of students
6. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
7. Caring, compassionate, and a good listener
8. Willing to work 1:1 and in small groups with students
9. Ensure safeguarding of students, in line with procedures
10. Personal care support
11. Attend staff meetings and complete appropriate CPD
Experience is not required, but candidates should demonstrate an interest in working with children with SEN.
Start date: ASAP
Training: Excellent on-site training, support, and CPD is provided to ensure safeguarding of all students
Salary: £85-£110 per day, Mon-Fri, 8.30am-4pm, term time only

1. No previous experience is required
2. If you have a degree, it's an excellent use of your degree
3. You MUST have the right to work in the UK in order to apply - no Visa sponsorship
4. Must be able to commute to Leatherhead
