Job Title: Accounts Assistant
Salary: £28,000 - £31,000

Contract Type: Permanent (subject to successful 3-month probation)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:30 pm (unpaid 1-hour lunch)
Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to support the Account Manager with daily accounting tasks across Purchase and Sales Ledgers. This role requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is proactive, and demonstrates excellent time management skills. Occasional reception cover will also be part of the duties.
Key Responsibilities
Posting purchase invoices and credit notes
Nominal coding of transactions
Reconciling purchase orders to invoices
Raising and resolving invoice queries
Price checking and cross-referencing information
Statement reconciliation and resolving discrepancies
Handling PCNs, fines, and producing deduction letters
Credit control activities
Assisting with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end preparations
Providing reception cover when needed
Setting up new suppliers and customers in the system
Processing monthly payroll via Sage (staff payroll)
Skills and Experience
Experience with Sage 50 preferred
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Able to work effectively both independently and within a small team
Accounts-focused mindset with high attention to detail
Strong timekeeping and time management skills
Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and able to use own initiative
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Basic Microsoft Office and Excel proficiency
Strong problem-solving abilities and professional handling of confidential information
Resilient and adaptable to changing priorities
Capable of managing conflicting priorities and multitasking in a fast-paced setting
