An opportunity has arisen within our Trust for a Clinical Psychologist wishing to work with children and young people (CYP) within a paediatric setting.
This post is a fixed-term maternity leave cover for 12 months within our established Clinical Psychology team.
Main duties of the job
You will provide psychological assessment, care and intervention for CYP and their families presenting with neurodevelopmental, acute and/or long-term health conditions. The role offers excellent opportunities for interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary working, alongside regular supervision from the Lead Clinical Psychologist and support in developing supervision skills.
This is an exciting opportunity to join an established Clinical Psychology Service within Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust’s (BHT) Community Paediatrics Team. We are a welcoming, thriving multidisciplinary team who have excellent working relationships and operational support. More widely, you will become part of BHT Clinical Psychological Services, a network of 30+ psychological therapists working across Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust services.
The post holder will have the opportunity to develop core skills in the psychological assessment and treatment of CYP within paediatric pathways, with particular experience in neurodevelopmental assessment for ASD and ADHD. The role also includes involvement in ongoing service initiatives focused on developing multidisciplinary assessment and care pathways for younger children with emerging neurodiversity and associated needs.
There will also be opportunities to contribute to the wider development of the Clinical Psychology Service, including supporting the supervision of assistant psychologists and trainee clinical psychologists.

Experience
Essential criteria
1. Post Graduate Doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent) as accredited by the BPS
2. Registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council
3. Able to maintain a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems
4. Skills in assessing and working with people with complex psychological, health and social difficulties (children)
5. Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis as practiced within the field of clinical psychology.
Desirable criteria
6. Minimum of two years post qualification experience of working autonomously as a clinical psychologist in a multidisciplinary setting, working with children and young people (CYP) and their relatives.
7. Experience of working as a clinical psychologist with CYP with both acute and long-term physical health problems, including specifically neurodevelopmental disorders
8. Experience of supervising within the profession
9. Skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary teams and facilitate team working. Able to work well within a team, to foster psychological safety and a climate of care, compassion and learning
