Axil is looking for a reliable, safety-focused Tanker Driver to join our busy Transport team, based at a customer site in Borehamwood. This is a hands-on driving role where professionalism, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to Health & Safety really matter.
You’ll be operating modern, well-maintained tanker units, safely transporting bulk liquid waste while delivering a consistently high standard of service to our customers.
What you’ll be doing
This is a non-ADR role. In this role, you’ll be trusted to work independently while staying closely connected to the wider transport operation. Your responsibilities will include:
* Carrying out thorough pre-use vehicle checks at the start of each shift and after any third-party access (e.g. maintenance)
* Promptly reporting defects using our internal reporting app and escalating issues where required
* Working closely with the Transport Planning team to maximise vehicle capacity and operational efficiency
* Safely transporting waste materials to designated recycling or disposal facilities in line with legal and company requirements
* Maintaining excellent vehicle presentation, cleanliness, and hygiene at all times
* Fully complying with EU Drivers’ Hours, the Working Time Directive, and accurate tachograph completion
* Following all Health & Safety policies, procedures, and safe systems of work
* Acting professionally and courteously on customer sites, adhering to all site-specific rules
* Proactively reporting any routing, vehicle, load, or site issues without delay
* Ensuring all waste loads are secure, compliant, and safe for transport
What we are looking for
* HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence
* Tanker driving experience is desirable
* Non-ADR role
* Excellent timekeeping and attendance
* Flexibility to work varying shift patterns
* A professional, customer-focused attitude
* A strong commitment to safety, compliance, and teamwork
Hours of work
Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, with opportunity to work overtime and nights out.
Please note, this is a permanent position.
Pay
£18.99 - £19.71 per hour, equivalent to £39,500 - £41,000 per annum, depending on experience.
