Teacher of English (0.6 FTE) Location: Walsall Studio School & Sixth Contract: Permanent, Part-Time (0.6 FTE – 3 hours a day across 5 days) Salary: Main Scale / UPS Start Date: 1st January 2026 Closing Date for Applications: Sunday 19th October 2025 Interview Date: Wednesday 22nd October 2025 About Us Walsall Studio School & Sixth is a deliberately small, forward-thinking school for young people aged 14 to 19 who are passionate about creative pathways in performance, music, and media. The Role We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic English Teacher to join our creative team. You will inspire, challenge, and engage students through high-quality, innovative teaching that prepares them for both exams and future creative careers. You will design and deliver a curriculum that links knowledge to real-world applications, ensuring all students achieve highly, regardless of background or ability. Key Responsibilities: Deliver engaging English lessons in line with the national curriculum and our “Curriculum That Gets You Hired” principles. Plan lessons that promote curiosity, problem-solving, and critical thinking through practical and project-based learning. Use assessment for learning to track progress and close gaps in knowledge. Contribute to the planning and continuous improvement of the English curriculum, embedding cross-curricular links with creative specialisms (Media, Music, Performing Arts, Digital Technology). Support enrichment projects, employer engagement activities, and STEM experiences. Assess student work and provide constructive feedback. Model professional standards and values, contributing to a culture of mutual respect and excellence. Use trauma-informed and adaptive teaching approaches to meet diverse needs, including SEND. Build positive relationships with students, parents, carers, and external agencies.
