Job Description
The Urban Driver Apprenticeship is a 15-month programme where apprentices will learn all aspects of professional driving as well as gaining their Category C1 (7.5t) Licence. This is with a view to moving to a full-time 7.5t Driver position within DX upon completion of the apprenticeship. Responsibilities include non-driving duties relevant to the role, such as office work, drivers mate and warehousing during training. Apprentices will undertake a range of training alongside their daily role to build knowledge, skills and behaviours. Apprentices will obtain CPC licences as part of the Urban Driver Apprentice programme, which is a legal requirement to drive LGV vehicles.
Key Tasks / Areas of Responsibility
* Represent DX in a professional manner at all times
* Carry out all tasks required as part of the apprenticeship training
* Drive vehicles in a safe and legal manner, ensuring compliance with all legal and company requirements
* Complete daily checks, report defects and ensure correct paperwork
* Scan all products using DX scanning equipment
* Load deliveries safely prior to leaving the depot
* Observe DX procedures and policies at all times
* Manage routing to achieve premium and timely deliveries
* Ensure correct equipment and PPE are in good order and used at all times
* Report delivery and on-road issues to the traffic office promptly
* Ensure customers receive their deliveries in excellent condition
* Deal with customer issues politely and effectively
* Make collections in line with given instructions and times
Qualifications / Entry Requirements
Apprentices must be 18 or over and have a minimum of 12 months UK driving experience. As a minimum, must have:
* Category B licence
Apprentices will also work towards obtaining CPC licences as part of the programme.
