Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor (Social Housing)
Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 + company car / fuel / benefits package
Location: Birmingham, United Kingdom
Overview: Lead all commercial, financial, and contractual aspects of multiple projects in social housing or maintenance sectors. Focus on maximizing profitability, ensuring legal and contractual compliance, and proactively managing all commercial issues. Responsible for overseeing applications, valuations, and payments, aligning activities with company policies. Play a pivotal role in guiding commercial strategy and ensuring successful project delivery from a financial and contractual perspective.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Project Financial Management: Oversee project budgets, forecasts, and financial reports. Ensure cost control and manage cash collection. Provide strategic insights to maximize profitability.
2. Contract Administration: Lead contract preparation, negotiation, and finalization. Ensure contractual obligations are met and legal risks minimized.
3. Procurement and Tendering: Supervise procurement, evaluate bids, and select subcontractors and suppliers to ensure value and alignment with strategy.
4. Cost Valuation and Reporting: Conduct valuations, manage payments, and prepare final accounts. Oversee profitability reporting and identify risks and opportunities.
5. Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate financial and contractual risks to safeguard interests.
The Ideal Candidate:
* Degree qualified or relevant qualifications
* Extensive experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably in social housing or maintenance
* Proven track record in senior roles managing high-value projects
* Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry practices
* Advanced knowledge of contract law, building regulations, health and safety
* Excellent commercial, negotiation, and communication skills
* Good IT skills and ability to work under pressure
