The Role
You’ll ensure residential properties managed by YMCA North Tyneside and partners comply with legal safety regulations (gas, electric, fire, asbestos, general maintenance). This involves inspections, hazard identification, reporting and ensuring corrective actions are taken.
Note: Extensive travel across the Midlands regions will require you to have a full driving licence and access to a business-insured vehicle.
As part of our commitment to support the continuous professional development of our employees, we will fund the successful candidate to undertake the NEBOSH Level 3 General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety course.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct property safety inspections and audits.
* Liaison with senior management and key stakeholders
* Ensure document compliance (e.g., HHSRS).
* Produce detailed reports with photographic evidence.
* Conduct Tenant Satisfaction Measure surveys.
* Stay updated on relevant legislation and policies.
* Contribute to training for staff and partners.
* Proactively ensure timely completion of safety checks.
* Track inspections, repairs, and certifications in our systems.
* Issue and follow up on repair orders.
* Re-inspect properties as needed.
* Generate compliance reports and identify improvement areas.
What We’re Looking For
* Understanding of building codes, safety regulations, and relevant housing law.
* Proven experience in thorough property inspections and hazard identification.
* Proactive, detail-oriented with strong relationship-building and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Knowledge of supported accommodation and social housing quality frameworks.
* Proficient in Google Works and MS Office (Word, Excel), email and databases.
* Strong organisational skills for electronic information
* Commitment to CPD and staying updated on legislation
* Full UK driving licence.
